The Collection
The Collection is a collection of instruments from the violin and bow family that I have collected over the years. As a violin and bow maker, I'm always on the lookout for inspiring pieces to study and work on.
Of course, my aim is also to be able to offer you unique instruments that will serve you well in your day-to-day career as a musician.
How are these instruments chosen?
In fact, The Collection are all instruments that I find interesting or like. This may be for different reasons, aesthetic, sonic, or simply because of intriguing elements I can't explain.
Whatever the case may be, I always keep in mind the goal of being able to offer instruments in which the art of violin making is expressed in all its facets. In this way, I wish to pay tribute to my predecessors and continue to keep European tradition and know-how alive through my own work.
What is the condition of these collector's instruments?
Many of them are vintage instruments, in other words: antiques. Most of them are not in new condition, but have been restored. This implies that they show signs of use and travel through the ages.
However, each one is fully restored, assembled and tuned in the workshop to get the best out of it. All these instruments are musician's tools that meet the exacting standards of modern lutherie.
For each instrument, please request a full status report to find out more about its condition.
Why aren't the prices displayed?
Because of La Collection's international reach, many manufacturers or owners (including myself) wish to keep their prices discreet.
This is not necessarily to hide them, as they are accessible in contacting me quite simply. However, as is the case outside France, numerous tax and customs duty criteria can greatly vary the price of an instrument acquisition. As a result, this controlled disclosure allows us to take into account every detail and destination to explain in detail the various costs involved. This avoids the many misunderstandings and surprises caused by international trade.
For further information, the French customs website and its representatives are important sources of information.
