    L’archet Roger François LOTTE

The MORIZOT brothers are all sons of Louis Joseph MORIZOT, who were trained by their father and succeeded him by joining forces in Mirecourt in 1937. As their work was essentially cooperative, they each specialized in one part of the manufacturing process, in order to optimize production.

    Here we find :

    • Paul Charles, « le chef » qui est à la fois comptable, receptionniste et qui s’occupe des hausses à l’établi.
    • Louis Gabriel, « le pompier » qui réalise les archets de contrebasse et les hausses.
    • André Auguste is in charge of premium bows, silver and gold.
    • Paul Georges, who takes care of finishing and assembling the bows.
    • Marcel Louis « Le petit vieux » qui dégrossit les baguettes de deuxième ordre.

As a result, the workshop is known to produce 5 to 6 bows a day in the post-war period. A considerable output. The workshop went into decline from 1955 onwards, gradually succumbing like the rest of the Mirecurtian industry.

These highly productive craftsmen were the master trainers of the great bow makers of the pivotal twentieth century, and probably shaped the future of the French bow-making revival of the 1970s and 80s.
