Instrument restoration
The instrument has been fully restored in my workshop and is ready to perform at its best. Ask me for a full condition report if you're interested.
That said, the instrument is in excellent playing and preservation condition thanks to internal and external interventions.
Origin of the instrument
Born in 1890, Amédée Dieudonné learned violin making as a teenager from Gustave Bazin, son of the famous bow maker Charles Nicolas BAZIN.
He then worked in Brussels and Paris before settling in his home town of Mirecourt in the 1920s with a few workers.
Over the next 40 years or so of his career, he was extremely productive, making violins both for himself and as a subcontractor for many renowned workshops. Some of these bear the Dieudonné label, which he often signed, while others simply bear workshop labels. His work also demonstrates excellent craftsmanship, based on the great classic Cremona models.
