Instrument restoration

The instrument has been fully restored in my workshop and is ready to perform at its best. Please feel free to request a full condition report if you are interested.

That said, it has not suffered despite its age and is flawless, having undergone no repairs whatsoever.

Origin of the instrument

Collin-Mézin is a familiar name in Mirecourt, spanning several generations. In fact, each new owner was called Charles Jean Baptiste, which was a little confusing at first. The grandfather (Charles I), who himself learned from his father, had already given great prestige to the name. However, this instrument was made in Mirecourt and is already considered post-war. It was made when the workshop was already run by the grandson (Charles III), when he was 35 years old. This model, number 201, is signed in ink.

Violin sound

To give you an idea of the violin's sound, here it is played by Erica JANG.

Who the violin is for Violon Ch.JB Collin-Mézin 1945

This violin is aimed above all at musicians who wish to play an excellent example of post-war Mirecurtian violin making. This Maggini model, a little unusual when we're not used to it, has a scroll with an extra turn, double purfling and a distinctive shape. Its slender, elongated soundholes go hand in hand with a very characteristic arching, offering a sound typical of French instruments of the period.
