Characteristics of a Passion-Tradition Mirecourt quinton

[pullquote align="right"]

Mirecourt is the capital of French instrument making. This Vosges town has a tradition of instrument making that goes back several hundred years.

This series of quintons is a tribute to the production of the legendary workshops of Mirecourt workshops. For centuries, these workshops have democratized the learning of music by offering violins at very affordable prices. At the time, this was known as the 5-franc violin, the famous Medio-fino or Mi-fin, of which there are still many examples today. Their crude appearance and characteristic varnish have not prevented musicians from using them for generations, thanks to their astonishing sound.

Yet these instruments are very different from their Mirecurtian ancestors. Firstly, they are entirely handcrafted in small series in the famous workshops of Kaiming Guan. A handful of luthiers select spruce and maple for their tonal qualities before carefully shaping each element of a violin, viola or cello. Finally, they are varnished with alcohol, in the purest French tradition.

Although inspired by Mirecourt's production, these quintons featurea fingerboard, saddles, pegsand chinrest in fine ebony. This was not always the case at the time.

What is Passion-Tradition

Luthier's opinion on a Passion-Tradition Mirecourt quinton

Passion-Tradition quintons are first and foremost a benchmark in high-quality Chinese production. That's why, over the past fifteen years, they have received many positive reviews from teachers and professionals alike. The key to their success is undoubtedly their impeccable finish and excellent sound results. Provided they are well prepared and assembled.

The Mirecourt series is also the manufacturer's least expensive range, and while ideal for study purposes, it can also go much further.
