To go into more detail, we're going to work on a very important subject: the assembly of a violin. You'll be given an instrument on which you'll carry out a complete assembly for the duration of the session. You'll then assemble the fourteen parts that make up the instrument, with my guidance and advice.

And if you feel like it, you can even take home the instrument you've built yourself.

Build your own violin

Here are the different stages of the program I propose for assembling your instrument:

  • Measurement, determination and marking of component placement.
  • Dowel installation and lubrication.
  • Adjusting the core inside the violin.
  • Button installation.
  • Secure tailpiece and turnbuckles.
  • Progressive stringing with bridge adjustment.
  • Inspection and lubrication of rope crossings.
  • Tuning the violin and stabilizing the tension.

The objectives of this workshop to discover violin making

Above all, it's an opportunity to share a special moment with you in the workshop. An atmosphere, sensations and exchanges that will allow you to experience for a few hours the daily life of a craftsman at the service of musicians.

On the other hand, you'll be actively involved in learning how to assemble an instrument that you can then play. In this way, I hope to pass on to you a few keys that will help you better understand the role of the different parts of a violin in its timbre and sound.

Choosing whether or not to keep your violin

At the end of the workshop, you can choose whether or not to keep the violin you have been working on. In this way, you'll be able to continue playing on it and enjoy the sound you've brought to the instrument.

The violins you'll be practicing on aren't just any violins. They are Passion Tradition Mirecourt violins, which you can also find in my store. This is why it can be very interesting for you to keep it. However, you can also take part in the experience without acquiring the instrument.

A great gift idea for a violinist

Would you like to offer an exceptional gift to a violinist? Why not allow him or her to spend a unique moment in my workshop, preparing a violin that he or she will then be able to play?

If you would like to organize something special, or personalized, please contact me so that we can arrange it together.
