Marie Leloup is a qualified violinist and former conservatory violin teacher. One day, she just didn't feel in tune with the way music schools were teaching. That's why she decided to give private lessons, in the traditional way, of course, but also on the Internet with her brand-new blog: Jouer du violon.

The blog for playing the violin

Playing the violin, the blog and videos

Jouer du violon is first and foremost a blog for learning the violin in a fun way. Whether you're already taking lessons or not, you'll have no trouble taking advantage of Marie's many tips while learning your favorite pieces. We'll be talking mainly about themes from film culture, movies and series, but also popular songs by your favorite artists.

With each piece, you'll find a score to help you decipher the music, with the help of the videos. Rest assured, even if you can't read music theory, you can still use the tablature. Finally, if you have a good ear for music, you can simply pick out the melodies and use the good shots to observe the position of the fingers.

So if you're a beginner and self-taught, you can learn and play the violin too!

A few words from Marie

What I want to emphasize is the fact of offering something different compared to conservatories. Above all, to approach the violin outside the obvious perspective of classical music, even if it means coming to it gradually over time. In my experience, there's no better motivation than wanting to play that piece you heard in a film or TV series. In short, it's a way of popularizing violin playing. And also, in the future, to succeed in creating a small community where people can share their worries, tips and challenges.

Quite simply, it's about finding pleasure and fun in playing the violin, for as many people as possible!

A community of enthusiasts

In addition to the content, you'll still have access to a teacher who'll take the time to answer all your questions. You can not only reach her on social networks like Youtube or Facebook but also Instagram.

Finally, you'll be able to share your story and experience, ask questions and find ways to alleviate your difficulties. Marie and the other violinists will be happy to help you overcome any technical obstacles. Their advice and encouragement will keep you going.

What the future holds for Jouer du violon

As this is a very young blog, there isn't a huge amount of content yet. But at the rate it's going, you'll be able to keep busy for quite a while. Of course, more videos, scores and educational articles are on the way.

In all cases, Marie listens carefully to her students and adapts to their feedback. That's why I'm counting on you to tell her about your expectations, your desires and also your suggestions.
