Custom manufacturing

Together, we'll build an instrument that's just right for you.

In addition to the regular production of violins, violas and cellos in my workshop, I also sometimes take on special orders. You'll find all the information you need here if you'd like to have your instrument custom-made in my workshop.

Philosophy

My idea is to create an instrument that's as unique as the person who's going to play it, and thus meet all their requirements.

I admire the idea of perfection and therefore make no compromises in the instrument design process. From the rigorous selection of the wood to the varnish components and final assembly, I carry out every step myself, so that I have complete control over the quality of my work.

With each instrument, I plan to create something special for the musician. First and foremost, I want to forge a unique bond between him and his instrument that will last and grow. Collaboration is essential in this process. Whenever possible, I like to maintain a privileged relationship with the client. This allows me to capture the essence of his playing style and design an instrument that will become a true extension of his soul.

The custom manufacturing process

The manufacturing process is entirely handcrafted and traditional. This is how, using hand tools, the various pieces of wood are carved and then assembled using hot glue, all in complete respect for the methods of yesteryear, those already in use over 500 years ago.

The models

As for the quartet's instruments, the violin, viola and cello models I build are most often based on models by the masters of Cremona's Golden Age. In this way, I try to capture the spirit of the famous luthiers Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù and Carlo Bergonzi. Drawing inspiration from these renowned antique models, I leave myself room to mix my own style.

However, if you've commissioned me, I can make a model to suit you, either in the interpretation of your own style or as a copy.

Custom manufacturing

The most important thing about having an instrument made to measure is that it fits your body perfectly. Depending on the choices we make during the manufacturing stages, this piece of wood can be transported into a world of sound that suits you.

Finally, it is always more advantageous, and more ethical, to manufacture rather than irreversibly adapt a venerable instrument.

Working together

When I produce your instrument, you'll be an integral part of its evolution. First of all, we'll decide together on the project I'm going to carry out for you. Secondly, your collaboration will be active and invaluable throughout the manufacturing process. You'll be able to choose the wood species you like best, and determine the set and accessories that suit you best. And don't panic if you're still not sure what you want! I'll be there to guide you and answer your questions at any time.
