The job of a violin workshop is first and foremost to preserve the instruments that have come down to us through the ages. Sometimes, tuning and maintenance are not enough to preserve their condition and function. That's why I offer violin repair and restoration, to restore the violin's appearance, playability and original sound.

The difference between violin repair and restoration

Violin repair

Repairing a violin consists above all in correcting an aesthetic or structural defect that has appeared during the life of the instrument. There are many ways to approach each repair, depending on the nature of the instrument, the budget and the time available.

Sometimes, concessions will have to be made and temporary repairs carried out, which will then be taken over and improved.

Violin restoration

Violin restoration, on the other hand, is a much more extensive undertaking. It generally involves reconsidering all previous repair work and treating it in a uniform manner.

How much does repair or restoration cost?

First of all, there's no chance of a repair or restoration looking the same. That' s why a complete, personalized estimate is necessary for every violin.

However, I'm going to give you an idea of the cost of various jobs that are quite common.
