Did you know that no matter what kind of violin you own, it could be worth something? It's true that depending on which one you own, its value can vary greatly. However, find out more here about what I offer in terms of violin buy-backs. It may be of interest to you.

Violin buyback
The violin workshop is the ideal place to consider buying back your violin.

Violin redemption in my workshop

I'm always interested in acquiring new instruments. These not only enable me to provide musicians with interesting instruments, but also to set up various projects, particularly for associations or educational purposes.

The different types of violins I buy

  • First of all, vintage violins are particularly interesting, whatever their age(pre-1960) or origin.
  • Passion Tradition violins, which are modern, reliable and traceable instruments. I would be delighted to offer to buy them from you.
  • Modern industrial, Chinese or Eastern European violins, even damaged ones, that you want to get rid of. These will then be used by humanitarian associations in which I participate.
  • Antique or modern violins that are beyond reasonable repair or restoration. These are generally used as educational aids.

If you think you own an instrument that fits these criteria, you can send me some pictures. This way, I'll be able to see the condition of the instrument and make you a proposal from a distance. However, I won't be able to make a final confirmation until I've seen the instrument.

Buying a broken violin
Even broken violins or violins in very poor condition can be valuable.

At what price can you expect to sell your instrument?

An instrument can only be sold at its maximum price if :

  • Firstly, its condition is impeccable. In other words, there is no damage that would jeopardize its playability or sound. It is possible, however, that there is some surface wear or abrasion, but this does not dramatically alter its value.
  • Its assembly is as well realized as possible so that it can express its full potential.
  • Its accessories must be fully usable and in acceptable condition.

That's why it's important to have your violin serviced or repaired by a luthier. Similarly, if you own an old violin, a restoration might be worthwhile.

Buying back your instrument at the best price

Ideally, you want to sell your instrument at the best possible price. But this price will depend on many factors, depending on who you sell it to. Some instruments are even theoretically unsaleable, so instruments that are too damaged or have no market value will not be taken back.

Find the best buyer for your violin

In most cases, I am able to purchase your violin. However, on certain occasions, I may not be able to respond favorably to your request. In such cases, I will be happy to advise you on how to sell your instrument under the best possible conditions, either through partners or organizations I work with.

The expertise of your violin

You can also get an appraisal to certify the value of your property. This will cost you some money, but you'll probably be able to recoup your investment thanks to this attestation of value.

A few tips before selling your violin

  • Does the label say you own an 18th or 19th century Stradivarius, Guarnerius or Vuillaume? Rest assured, there's about a 100% chance that's not the case. In fact, it's an apocryphal label. Some of the details may give you away, but generally speaking, the label is the last thing to look at on a violin.
  • Some damage may seem impressive, but will not be a problem to repair. Others, on the other hand, may seem insignificant but have a major impact on the value. That's why it's important to be able to count on someone you can trust to give your instrument a complete overhaul before putting it up for sale.
  • Finally, proceed with caution when passing on your contact details to dealers, collectors or buyers who respond to your advertisements. You may well come across honest, professional people, or unscrupulous individuals who won't hesitate to rip you off by any means necessary.
