What is a Cigarbox?
The term Cigarbox refers to a set of instruments made using a cigar box as a sounding board. This instrument originated in the hands of 19th-century American tinkerers, and was the poor man's guitar or fiddle. It was thanks to these that the blues became popular, and to this day they remain the symbol of a melancholy music, full of suffering and sadness.
By way of illustration, here's a piece by Alain Johannes accompanied by his cigarbox.

A luthier's Cigarbox
Originally, these were crude instruments, often hastily assembled with a broomstick and one or two strings stretched over it. The model I'm showing you today is a little more advanced, with a specially designed neck that resembles that of a Fender Telecaster electric guitar. It's also equipped with a pickup and can be plugged into any guitar amp.
