Four years of the workshop

Monday, October 4, 2021 marks the workshop's four-year anniversary. I'd like to take this opportunity to look back on the highlights of this adventure, talk about this anniversary month and look ahead to the upcoming calendar.

Four years of the stringed-instrument workshop
It's already been four years since the workshop opened in Strasbourg!

Four years of the workshop

First and foremost, when I count four years, I'm talking about the Strasbourg epic, since I moved to Alsace in 2017. In fact, that's the exact date I signed my first CAPE contract with Créacité. At the time, I was based in Elsau, in a small attic workspace that some of you may have heard of. I'm not going to hide the fact that it was a tough time to get set up, but my passion has always driven me to keep going and do more. What's more, despite the periods of uncertainty, I had the opportunity to take some interesting trips, such as to Guadeloupe and Korea. These numerous adventures, among those of a daily life also full of adventures, have led me to think bigger.

That's how I ended up at the Hôtel des Forges. An affordable and remote(even a little gloomy) location in Strasbourg's autonomous port. Yet it was there that I created the first version of my company, a 25m² space in which I quickly became cramped.

A new team of enthusiasts

Today in the heart of Strasbourg. I no longer welcome you alone, but with my team.

  • Noémie who assists me in the workshop with all management and communication tasks.
  • Oriane, who has been learning the luthier's trade in my workshop since the beginning of the school year.
  • Eunah, who should be joining us soon from Seoul.

There are also appearances by Erica, who gives violin lessons at the workshop, the various trainees who come and go at the workshop throughout the year, and certain colleagues who use the workshop to work.

Thanks to this team, I'm getting closer every day to the workshop I've always dreamed of. Where the sound of the plane meets the sound of the violin, where knowledge is shared. Where kindness, accessibility and simplicity reign.

Four years of the workshop
A quiet birthday day at the workshop.

What's going to happen on this anniversary?

In fact, as with all birthdays, it's a time for sharing. And since, with the pandemic still active, gatherings that give rise to outpourings of Champomy are not well received, let's put them off until next year. However, there's one thing we mustn't forget during birthdays, and that's presents. And since you give us gifts all year round, now it's our turn to give you some.

So stay tuned on the main social networks, because we'll be giving away prizes for everyone: violinists, violists and cellists! So, if you're not following me on social networks, join us now!
